Six Feet Under Thanksgiving

Wow, I think I recognize this place...oh yeah, it's my blog. Haven't been here in awhile.

Well, for starters I hope that everyone had a fabulous Thanksgiving, I know I did. I wasn't able to travel home to West Texas to be with the family, but I got to have Thanksgiving with a group of good friends here in Dallas. Naturally, I ate too much turkey, stuffing and all the trimmings, then came desert which consisted of coffee and the tiniest slivers of chocolate meringue pie, pumpkin pie and my personal favorite...cream cheese pecan pie. Oy! What a little piggy was I.

After all the chowing down was over, my neighbors and I spent the rest of the weekend watching movies and the fifth and final season of Six Feet Under. I must say that the final episode was by far one of the best series finales that I have ever seen. If you haven't seen this series, I strongly recommend watching it.

And now for another stolen meme:

Christmas Meme:

1. Egg Nog or Hot Chocolate?
I LIKE EGGNOG IF THERE'S A LITTLE SOMETHING EXTRA IN IT, OTHERWISE GIMME CHOCOLATE.

2. Did you ever do anything for Santa?
WE ALWAYS LEFT MILK AND COOKIES FOR SANTA AND CARROTS FOR THE REINDEER. I ALWAYS WONDERED HOW SANTA COULD EAT TREATS AT EVERY HOUSE.

3. Colored lights on tree/house or white?
AS A KID WE ALWAYS HAD MULTI-COLORED LIGHTS ON THE HOUSE AND TREE. MOM AND DAD STILL USE COLORED AND I USE SOLID.

4. Do you hang mistletoe?
NOPE - I'VE BEEN IN A RELATIONSHIP FOR 18 YEARS AND FIGURE THAT IF I WANT TO STAY IN IT I PROBABLY SHOULDN'T PLAY WITH THE MISTLETOE...OH WHAT THE HECK, MAYBE I'LL TRY IT THIS YEAR.

5. When do you put your decorations up?
USUALLY THE FIRST WEEKEND OF DECEMBER, BUT THIS YEAR I WILL BE IN FLORIDA SO IT WILL BE THE SECOND WEEKEND.

6. What is your favorite Christmas dish (excluding dessert)?
I LOVE A GOOD HAM.

7. Favorite Holiday memory as a child:
I KNOW THIS SOUNDS CORNY, BUT ALL MY CHILDHOOD CHRISTMAS MEMORIES ARE GOOD.

8. When and how did you learn the truth about Santa?
ACTUALLY, I CAN'T REMEMBER.

9. Do you open a gift on Christmas Eve?
NO! MY PARENTS ALWAYS MADE US WAIT UNTIL CHRISTMAS MORNING. ISN'T THAT A FORM OF ABUSE???

10. How do you decorate your Christmas Tree?
WITH ALL SORTS OF DIFFERENT ORNAMENTS. SOME OF WHICH ARE VERY OLD FAMILY ORNAMENTS.

11. Snow! Love it or Dread it.
LOVE IT! ESPECIALLY AT CHRISTMAS.

12. Can you ice skate?
YES. NOT VERY GOOD AT IT.

13. Do you remember your favorite gift?
I WAS VERY FORTUNATE AS A KID AND GOT LOTS OF GIFTS. I CAN'T REMEMBER A FAVORITE.

14. What's the most exciting thing about the holidays for you?
BEING WITH THE FAMILY.

15. What is your favorite Holiday Dessert?
ALL THE DIFFERENT COOKIES MOM BAKES.

16. What is your favorite holiday tradition?
WHEN I WAS LIVING AT HOME, MY SISTER AND I WOULD ALWAYS HAVE FRIENDS OVER AFTER MIDNIGHT MASS AND WE WOULD STAY UP TILL 3, 4 OR 5 IN THE MORNING VISITING AND SNACKING ON ALL OF THE COOKIES MOM HAD BAKED. NOW I CAN BARELY STAY AWAKE ALL THE WAY THROUGH MIDNIGHT MASS.

17. What tops your tree?
AN ANGEL. AS A KID WE ALWAYS HAD THIS GOLD ANGEL TREE TOPPER. A COUPLE OF YEARS AGO WHEN MY SISTER AND I TRAVELED HOME FOR CHRISTMAS WE DISCOVERED THAT MOM HAD PURCHASED A NEW "FRESH" ANGEL FOR THE TREE TOP, WE DUG THE OLD ONE OUT OF STORAGE AND PLACED IT BACK ON TOP OF THE TREE WHERE IT BELONGED AND THE NEW ONE MYSTERIOUSLY DISAPPEARED.

18. Which do you prefer give or receive?
NOW THAT'S A LOADED QUESTION. OF COURSE I LOVE TO GIVE.

19. What is your favorite Christmas Song?
O HOLY NIGHT. I ALSO LIKE "WHERE ARE YOU CHRISTMAS" SUNG BY FAITH HILL.

20. Candy Canes?
IF THERE'S NO CHOCOLATE IN THE HOUSE...THAT WOULD NEVER HAPPEN.

Accent or Not???

What American accent do you have?
Your Result: The Midland

"You have a Midland accent" is just another way of saying "you don't have an accent." You probably are from the Midland (Pennsylvania, southern Ohio, southern Indiana, southern Illinois, and Missouri) but then for all we know you could be from Florida or Charleston or one of those big southern cities like Atlanta or Dallas. You have a good voice for TV and radio.

The West

The Inland North

Boston

North Central

The South

Philadelphia

The Northeast

Now, I'm not sure I agree with this survey. I think my answers would've been different had I not been looking at the words in the way they "should" be pronounced. It was fun anyway. Happy Thanksgiving Eve.

See Y'all next time.

On the Road Back...

Well, I was pleasantly surprised with the election last night. I was so thrilled that the Democrats took back the House. I was even more excited this evening when I found out the the Senate was as good as ours as well. I sure hope that things will start to turn around for the US. Do you think the rest of the world will stop hating us now. I guess we have a long way to go before that happens.

Ms. Pelosi, last night I had a dream and in it was this image. PLEASE change your mind and make it a reality!!!

The Prestige

Friday night I accompanied some friends to the movies. "The Prestige" was the flick of choice. The theater was packed and I'm not sure if it was because of the movie itself or because Christian Bale and Hugh Jackman were the stars. Either way the theater was packed and we were stuck on the very back row, thank god for stadium seating. Overall I enjoyed the movie. There were some holes in the story, but isn't that usually the case. The rest of my weekend was quite uneventful...and I loved it!

The next few weeks are threatening to be hectic with projects at work and the Thanksgiving Holiday quickly approaching. Sadly I will not be able to spend it with my family but I am fortunate enough to be spending it with my chosen family/friends. My job is desert so I'm thinking I'll fix a traditional pumpkin pie and a cream cheese pecan pie. The latter will make you want to slap yo mamma...it's just so damn good.

November 30th my "someone", myself and two friends will be taking a trip to Disney World. I have never been to Florida and I understand that Nov/Dec is a good time to go ...weather-wise.

I really don't have much to report, just thought I'd stop in and ramble a bit.

See you next time.
